Happy Birthday to ME

Jay-Z said 30's the new 20 but I'm not buying it. Here's to everyone turning 29 today or this year for the matter.  Can you believe it? We're about as old as Hip Hop. What did Ol' Dirty say? "[Something something] rub your ass with moonshine, I'mma take you back to '79!"

Here's the Rub's old school mix of 1979 (our year)

Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five - Superappin'
The Younger Generation - We Rap More Mellow
Kurtis Blow - Christmas Rap
Sequence - Funk You Up
Funky 4 + 1 - Rapping and Rocking the House
Lady D - Lady D
Ron Hunt - Spiderap
Fatback Band - King Tim III (Personality Jock)
Sugarhill Gang - Rapper's Delight
Lady B - To the Beat Yall
Paulette & Tanya Winley - Rhymin and Rappin
Jazzy 4 MCs - MC Rock

1994

Speaking of which. I came across this a while back. I guess L.R.G. clothing had some sort of anniversary and commissioned some Canadian Dj...

(Canadians love hip hop. They outta remix their national anthem. Did you peep their Olympic outfits? Mega Fly Yo)

...to mix up the classics(they all were) of 1994. Just more proof them early 90's were the Golden Era of Hip Hop.

'03 til Infinity

I made this mix back in 2003. A "Best of the Year" kind of jammie.

I'm trying remember what went down that year cause I'm not good at remembering significant events past 1994. Hmm... The Lord of the Rings : The Return of the King movie sucked balls, Saddam forgot to  shave...
...and shoot, my beloved  Raiders got trounced by Tampa in the Super Bowl 48-21.

Anyways, I'm no professional Dj, but this one came out the best in my opinion. Mostly hip hop. The title's self-explanitory.

B-sides Win Again!

Whatever happened to the guy that did that blog? I caught on to it hella late, after it fell off. But it was dope. The end of this month will commemorate that last time that cat posted a blog entry, and in his name I present a bunch of B-sides all at once.

I don't know if the Hieroglyphics crew still sell this joint. The last time I checked they were trying to dump the rest of these cassette only items for only 5 bones a pop.

Anyways, click on the image (above) to see the full tracklisting or print out the cover.

Mixed by Dj June 22nd back in 1997, an actual mixtape for your iPod.
